Facilities

MBBC’s facilities are designed for optimum learning in a stunning, natural environment.

Now

Located in the thriving eastern suburbs of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Boys’ College is just minutes from beautiful Moreton Bay and less than 15 km from the city centre.

MBBC is set within 13 ha of breathtaking bushland and native plantings, with its own 5.5 ha nature sanctuary nestled behind the classrooms, the latter integral to environmental science work undertaken by the boys.

Classrooms are technologically rich, all equipped with computers, data projectors and interactive whiteboards and supported by dedicated IT laboratories and mini IT laboratories within or between classrooms. Wireless connectivity is available throughout much of the school for those boys wishing to use their own laptops.

Classrooms and verandas are spacious and airy, catering for the larger spaces required by boys.

Dedicated art, drama and music rooms are located at key locations within the College grounds.

Flexible, contemporary science laboratories cater for different learning approaches.

In 2009, we added six new classrooms, IT and science labs, and a shaded ampitheatre.

In 2010,  with the support of State and Commonwealth funding (refer attached), we have seen the addition of a state-of-the-art lecture theatre, a senior studies area incorporating multiple flexible classrooms, and student service centre.

June 2011 saw the completion of the state of the art graphics lab.

Nine months in the making, this new lab is equipped with 25 computers all installed with 3D and 2D design software.  Each week it is anticipated that over 120 students will be using the new resource lab for their graphics and design technology modules.

Already there are a few budding engineers and draftsmen in the making and quite a few students doing extremely well in their graphics and design units.

A multi-purpose hall and weights studio have recently been unveiled, along with an outdoor basketball court and tennis courts.

Beyond the classrooms, the College has a football and soccer oval, synthetic cricket pitches, and the use of its sister school’s 50m pool, halls, gymnasium, and athletic and playing fields, just two minutes from MBBC. We also sub lease local playing ovals.

Our buildings and grounds are designed employing sustainable technologies, which have won the College several environmental awards.

Coming up…

Work has commenced on an arts precinct, as well as music practice rooms and additional change rooms.  Further classrooms will be added in subsequent years. These new buildings are designed to support and add value to our teaching efforts.

Expansion of the College’s facilities will remain tightly controlled in terms of its impact on the environment, and the College’s proudly held aesthetic.
