Think on these

I was talking to a friend last week and they told me they were having a very bad year. I asked them what were they focusing on when they made that conclusion? They thought for a quick moment and said, “The negative things.”

How easy is it to get caught up doing that? We as people seem to have this tendency to remember the negative things so easily and to dwell on them and hammer ourselves with them. Meanwhile we have all these wonderful things going on as well but we tend to gloss over them or take them for granted or undervalue them.

Our college New Testament Bible reading is from the book of Philippians. In this letter the Apostle Paul gives us this advice:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. And the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:8

When we look at our life, our year our day what is it that we focus on? Do we focus on the problems, the mistakes, the disappointments, the hurts or the burdens? Or do we focus on those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy?

May I encourage you to dwell on those things that are positive. Think on those things that inspire you, the things that bring joy to your heart!! Dwell on those wonderful moments where the world seems to stop and you know you are in your sweet spot!!
