MBBC Sailing 1

Competitive School Sailing

MBBC sailing teams compete in the Schools Sailing interschool competition conducted by Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS). Competition is conducted on Sundays in Terms 1 and 4 in both Teams and Fleet racing.

Sail training is available to students in Years 7 to 12 in Term 1 and to students in Years 6 to 12 in Term 4. To be eligible to participate in the MBBC sailing program students must have completed the Start Sailing 1 & 2 course (or a comparable course) and have their own PFD.

Training sessions take place at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQ), Manly. Transport to training sessions is organised by MBBC, however, parents are required to collect their son’s promptly at the completion of the session at 5.30pm.

A fee of $200 per term is payable for participation in the MBBC sailing program. This covers transport to RQYS, entry fees for School Sailing competitions, and storage and maintenance expenses for MBBC’s 7 pacers and safety boat.
