PREP YEAR

In line with Education Queensland, Moreton Bay Boys’ College has introduced a Prep Year. The College no longers offers Preschool.

The Prep year program is driven by the Early Years Curriculum Guidelines which has been created to enhance continuity in learning throughout the children’s early years of schooling. The main focus of the Preparatory Year will be to build upon children’s prior learning and knowledge and transition them into their future learning at school.

The MBBC Prep year will develop the boys’ knowledge and skills through a variety of activities and learning. The individuality of each child is highly valued and will be developed with child-centred activities throughout the Prep year. These activities will be guided by the boys’ interests.

The boys will be engaged in all five contexts of learning which are: Play; Real-life situations; Investigations; Routines and transitions; and Focused learning and teaching. The boys will participate in a variety of learning contexts across all of the Early Learning Areas.

Opportunities for whole school integration are ensured through a variety of events. This table has been attached. These include attending and leading Chapel and Assembly as well as attending a variety of special events which happen throughout the College.
