Work Experience for Senior boys

16 November 2016

It is not uncommon for boys in Year 10 and Year 11 to be unsure of the career pathway they wish to pursue once they have finished the senior phase of their learning.  To assist them with their choice, the college offers boys in Year 10, 11 and 12 a work experience opportunity.  To minimise the impact on their studies, the boys can elect to undertake a work experience placement during one week of their holidays.

To give the boys a greater chance of completing a suitable work experience placement, the college has enlisted the services of a private work experience provider, School Community Industry Partnership Service (SCIPS).  SCIPS completes all of the required paper work on the colleges’ behalf and most importantly, has an extensive list of industry contacts.

Boys in Years 9, 10 and 11 can now apply to undertake work experience in 2017.  Students interested in participating in work experience next year are to register their expression of interest via the electronic portal on the SCIPS website (  Once a student selects the student login on the website, they will be asked for a class number.  For Moreton Bay Boys’ College, this number is: 28965.  Some boys have previously been able source their own work experience provider.  This can still occur and the online registration allows for this.

Once a boy has completed an online registration for work placement through SCIPS, he must send me an email so I can log in and approve the application.  Once school approved, SCIPS will then contact the boys and arrange the work placement.  Please note, SCIPS do require a 6 week lead in time to arrange a suitable work experience placement.

If you have any questions regarding work experience, please do not hesitate to contact me.
