2018 OP Results

20 December 2018

This year has been an exceptional year for MBBC on many levels. The opening of the new Library, the success in the Carter Shield and the exceeding of our NAPLAN targets, were all highlights.

Today we congratulate our senior boys on their commitment and dedication to their studies which is reflected in the outstanding OP results which were released on Friday. The 2018 results are the best ever for MBBC. We are extremely proud of our Class of 2018.

These results have been achieved through hard work, engaged learning, a genuine focus on improvement, focussed teaching and an exceptional QCS preparation program. It is testament to the value of setting goals and striving with relentless determination to achieve them.

The table below highlights the performance of our Class of 2018:

OP %
1 – 5 41.4%
1 – 10 82.7%
1 – 15 96.2%

We recognise and congratulate the following boys who are the College’s highest academic achievers in 2018:

OP 1 – Tobias Kennett, Flynn Schrantz, Jackson Willmott
OP 2 – Matthew Eisenmenger, Brandon Falconer, Ben Madden
OP 3 – Justin Lynch, Dakota Russell

An outstanding 75% of OP eligible students at MBBC achieved either an A or B on the QCS test. We are thrilled that 100% of our boys received a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

As a College, MBBC takes great pride in enabling a diverse range of pathways allowing our boys to achieve their individual goals. As a non-selective College, we encourage students to embrace their strengths and pursue whatever avenue they choose. MBBC believes in the fundamental principle that all students have the right to be educated to their fullest potential.

While we are extremely proud of the boys’ academic successes in 2018, especially our boys who achieved an OP 1- 5, we are just as proud of the boys who have been successful in obtaining VET qualifications enabling them to pursue further education and employment; some of whom achieved this while also doing their OP subjects. There were 14 VET qualifications and 3 School Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships earned by boys in the Class of 2018.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to parents for your unwavering support in the pursuit of providing an outstanding experience for your sons and your commitment to the partnership we have in working together to achieve this.

Achieving the best educational outcome for each individual boy is always the main objective for MBBC and one we feel we have again achieved in 2018!

Congratulations to all of the Senior students of 2018. You have our full support as you embark on the next stage of your journey.
