Music at the Moreton Bay Colleges

Music plays an important role in the lives of the Moreton Bay Colleges. Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College share a proud culture of music and we are known in the broader community as having vibrant, diverse, quality music programmes.

Music is delivered as a single programme across both campuses, utilising the collective resources of both Colleges to provide students with the best possible music education and performance opportunities. This collaborative model allows girls and boys to interact artistically in rehearsal and performance, while at the same time retains separate, single-sex campuses for individual and class instruction.

Research has confirmed the extensive benefits of music education in supporting the general educational development of children. Students who are engaged in music generally perform better in the core learning areas of literacy and numeracy.

Our music programme inspires all students to reach their potential by promoting goal setting, teamwork, and self-discipline. It cultivates transferable skills in students that advantage academic performance.

The Moreton Bay Colleges, together, offer students exceptional musical experiences. Music is delivered through: Class Music, Instrumental and Vocal Tuition, Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles and Performance.

We would like to extend a warm invitation to all Moreton Bay Boys' College students to join our Music Programme.

Class Music

Class Music

Class music at MBBC is an active, practical, and continuous learning experience where students make and respond to music. Students learning music listen, perform and compose through units of study specifically developed to embrace boys’ interests and learning styles. Classroom music studies align with our primary immersion programmes, and are designed and sequenced to facilitate a seamless transition into the secondary school. Music classes are available to students in every year level—including Year 12 Music Extension.
