Sport at Moreton Bay Boys' College

Moreton Bay Boys' College aims to inspire and empower our students to explore a diverse range of sports and activities. Regardless of experience or performance level, our students have the opportunity to participate, challenge themselvesachieve and have fun.

Sport is a cornerstone of our College, providing boys with opportunities to take calculated risks, build meaningful relationships, set goals, and learn through active participation. Engaging in new activities and experiences fosters self-discipline, confidence, and responsibility—essential qualities for thriving in life. Through sport, students also develop crucial social skills, including teamwork, communication, and leadership. Our sports programme is designed to inspire a lifelong passion for sport, supporting students' physical, mental, and social well-being for years to come.

Moreton Bay Boys’ College takes part in a combination of CSSAQ events, Club and the new school based Independent Schools Championships (ISC) competition. The ISC is a new competition which includes Citipointe Christian College, Redlands College, Moreton Bay Boys’ College, and Brisbane Christian College. The ISC competition includes Secondary (Year 11 and Year 12), Intermediate (Year 9 and Year 10) regular weekly Wednesday home and away afternoon fixtures from 2pm-4pm across all sports in 2025. The ISC competition also extends to Gala Days for Primary (Year 5 - Year 6) and Junior (Year 7 – Year 8) for all sports with the aim to implement regular afternoon fixtures in 2026.

These are great opportunities for students to participate in a variety of competitive and novelty events. Although the carnivals are used for selecting students to compete at representative competitions, we encourage all students wherever on their sporting journey and their sporting ability, to take part in the friendly house rivalry, and bring points to their House. The College welcomes a whole school approach with our sporting teams, activities, and competitions.

We encourage parents to stay connected with the coaching staff, coordinators, or the MBBC Sports Department for any questions. For regular updates, please refer to the College app and Sport Handbook.

Best wishes for the 2025 sporting season!

Team and Individual Sports

Team and Individual Sports

Traditional team sports such as Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis and Touch are conducted through local affiliated club competitions. Over the years we’ve proudly secured Premierships in all six disciplines. We’re a Mountain Biking powerhouse, winning back-to-back National Championships in 2018 and 2019 and have continued to place on the podium the last few years. The Moreton Bay Colleges Mountain Biking Programme continues their success, taking out the Flight Centre Epic Challenge for seven years in a row. The Sailing program continues strong with a team representing Nationals in 2022, with the goal of having a team in the Australian Schools Nationals 2023.
