Benjamin Donnelly (Class of 2011)
Building on the success of last year's inaugural MBBC Medal, we continue to award the MBBC Medal annually to an Old Boy who exemplifies the College Values of Engagement, at an exemplary level.
This year, Mr Benjamin Donnelly, is the recipient of the College Medal.
After graduation from MBBC in 2011, Ben went on to study industrial design at QUT graduating with first class honours in 2016. During his degree, Ben became passionate about teaching and began working as a sessional tutor and guest lecturer in industrial design, a role he has continued working in for 10 years now. In his final year of study, with a portfolio of work prepared outside of university hours.
Ben was hired by Marvel Studios as a concept artist on Thor Ragnarok. This began his career as a designer working in the feature film industry, and he has contributed prop design, vehicle design and art direction to numerous films and television series since. Some of his credits include: Aquaman for DC/Warner Brothers, Godzilla for Legendary Entertainment, Thor Love and Thunder for Marvel Studios, Foe for Amazon Studios and Nautilus for Disney Studios. Outside of the film industry Ben has also contributed design and visualisation services to industry leading research projects in the medical robotics field and in the automotive design field, envisioning the future of autonomous transport for people with a disability.
So far, Ben’s career highlight is building the spaceship for Godzilla.
