Things to Consider

Moreton Bay College will consider enrolment applications from Primary and Secondary students wishing to apply for a Student Visa, subject to compliance with minimum requirements and conditions set by the College, and with legislative requirements of the State of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia, including any requirements to undertake extra tuition to learn English to meet the English language proficiency standard needed to enter mainstream classes.

Entry Requirements

Moreton Bay College will consider enrolment applications from Primary and Secondary students wishing to apply for a Student Visa, subject to compliance with minimum requirements and conditions set by the School, and with legislative requirements of the State of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia, including any requirements to under-take extra tuition to learn English to meet the English language proficiency standard needed to enter mainstream classes.  

Academic Requirements - Students must provide evidence of satisfactory academic performance appropriate to entry to the Year level. A pass level of “C” or better for the majority of the core subjects is required. 

English Language Requirements - Following a successful interview with the Principal, below are the minimum direct entry requirements to The Moreton Bay Colleges.

Term Dates

The Australian school year commences in late January and concludes in late November / early December.  It is recommended that students commence their studies at the beginning of a school year or the beginning of a term.  Term dates for the College can be found here.

Visa Requirements

The Department of Home Affairs website provides information about Student Visa applications and requirements. Students must comply with the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship in regard to regulations governing international student entry to Australia.

Accommodation

For students who will not be living with a family member, Moreton Bay College arranges a suitable, caring homestay family who will assist you with settling into life in Australia. This placement will be organised through the College. Homestay families are kind and caring people who provide a home for a visiting overseas student. Living with a family is an invaluable part of the learning experience. Students have their own bedroom with study facilities, have all meals supplied, washing and ironing facilities and access to transport to and from school and co-curricular activities. All homestay families are Blue Card checked and a 24-hour hotline is available. For more information on homestay, please refer to Homestay Programme on our website.
